DimensionQuest Animation & Game

DimensionQuest began as a concept for an introductory game design class, but I liked using the character so much that I created several more projects with them and in their world for various classes. In a way, the world of DimensionQuest became a mascot for my various college projects.

The original game was built off of a provided platforming framework for Unity and contains wholly original sprites and level design. The game combines a basic side-scrolling puzzle platformer with the world of a (formerly) top-down JRPG with a tongue-in-cheek story tying the whole thing together. You can play the game here: https://ucantbemedev.itch.io/dimensionquest

Next semester, in a class focusing on game art, I used the world of DimensionQuest in two small projects: A simple platformer in Unity and a 3D game constructed in Unreal Engine where you explore a town as a slime, growing as you consume its residents.

I also used the main Heroine character in a few animated projects for a class focusing on the principles of animation. My final project in this class combined Adobe Animate, After Effects, and Clip Studio Paint to bring 3 scenes from an alternate version of the original game to life.

Though it serves as a parody of a video game genre I have recently come to enjoy, having my own world in which to set various projects has been freeing and a source of great inspiration. This will very likely not be the last time I utilize this character and their environment.
